Our Brown Bag Lunch program is a series of informative talks given by local community members and experts on many interesting topics. These free talks are at noon on the second Friday of every month and last about an hour. We encourage our guests to bring their lunch, a friend, or just themselves and settle in for some Marshall County history exploration.

Nature's Storyteller: The Life of Gene Stratton-Porter with Barbara Olenyik Morrow
In “Nature’s Storyteller: The Life of Gene Stratton-Porter” (Indiana Historical Society Press), author Barbara Olenyik Morrow tells the story of this remarkable Hoosier who lived life on her own terms – and who, in the process, helped push back society’s boundaries for women. Stratton-Porter also was instrumental in kick-starting the nation’s conservation movement, with some people comparing her influence to that of another leading environmentalist in the early 1900s: President Theodore Roosevelt.
